DESCRIPTION:This class is for anyone who has undergone or is undergoing breast cancer treatment and will focus on lymphedema education and reducing the risk of its occurrence. \nDuring the class\, we will review the basic anatomy of the lymphatic system and define common procedures performed during the treatment course for breast cancer that affects lymphatics. Risk reduction strategies\, including compression sleeves\, will be reviewed in addition to the typical presentation of early lymphedema. \nFinally\, a brief description of Axillary Web Syndrome will also be reviewed\, and basic stretches/exercises to implement if cording is present.

There is no one “right” way to give birth. DESCRIPTION:Renown Institute for Cancer offers one-hour weekly classes to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and their families. These insightful classes are facilitated by oncology nurse navigators. \nIn this class\, you will: \n• Meet your navigator and learn about cancer support services available to you\n• Hear about pre-surgery instructions and your pre-admit appointment\n• Receive education in rehabilitation and lymphedema\n•Have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about treatments\, including chemotherapy\, biotherapy\, immunotherapy\, radiation therapy and clinical trials \nFor more information and to register\, call 775-982-7787 or visit renown.org/event. \nNote: 18y+ only. This class is not suitable for minors. Childcare is not provided. \nVideo-enabled attendance is available.
